Let’s Talk…Banana Split Breakfast
I ran across a recipe today on ISU Extension & Outreach’s Spend Smart Eat Smart page. It sounded to yummy not to share! What fun it would be to tell children (and parents!) that tomorrow for breakfast or snack they would be having banana splits. OK, so the actual name of the recipe is Breakfast Splits, but it does use bananas along with yogurt, cereal, and fruit of your choosing.
The recipe steps are simple enough that even young children can help put the serving together. And we know that when children are involved in meal preparation, they are much more likely to eat the nutritious food – which means less food and money wasted. A win win!
You can find the recipe, including cost, nutritional information, and even a short video with tips on selecting the best cereal and yogurt here - https://www.extension.iastate.edu/foodsavings/recipes/breakfast-splits
