SafeFood© and Cup Confusion
On a recent road trip during the heat wave previously noted, we stopped at a convenience store for the basics (gas, snacks and restroom). While I normally try to be a good dietitian and purchase something healthy like milk, I succumbed to the heat and went for a cold soft drink. First, though I had to find these – have you been to a C-store lately? They seem to be more like restaurants! Then, I had to sort through all the beverage dispenser options (4 types of cappuccino, three strengths of coffee, six frozen slurpee/smoothie beverages, and about 10 soft drink choices). I was getting closer! After deciding what size cup to pull out of the dispenser, the challenge became what lid size to select. The selection was labeled using terms of mega, ultra grande, super-sized, etc rather than small, medium and large or color coding. Obviously my spatial differentiation skills need some work because it took me about 6 (%&*#) lid trials to get the match! Now the final dilemma of what to do with the lids I had touched – put back into stack or dispose of? I opted to toss and did so with a guilty feeling, but would have felt worse putting back after my experimentation. I am sure many like the wide selections but for me – too many choices!
