Benefiting from the New Livestock Indemnity Program
The USDA Farm Service Agency has sent out an announcement that eligible livestock producers can now apply for assistance through the Livestock Indemnity Program, as of July 13, 2009.
The Livestock Indemnity Program offers assistance to those producers who experience livestock losses in excess of normal mortality rates due to disaster, including losses due to hurricanes, floods, blizzards, disease, wildfires, extreme heat and extreme cold. Iowa producers who have livestock death losses from the recent excessive heat in June may be able to benefit from this program.
