No waste lunches

September 15th, 2011

Did you know that disposable lunches create 67 lbs of waste per child each year?  Tips for making no waste lunches  – use cloth napkins and stainless steel utensils, reusable bottles for beverages instead of cartons and will be thrown away.

I have a cooler that I re-pack everyday with my camelbak water bottle, a glass canning jar of tea, cloth napkin and silverware with my local food of choice for the day. It usually includes raw nuts, dried or fresh fruit. Today I’m ‘shlepping’ my Liquid Planet insulated mug with my green tea and my jar of green smoothie to my meetings. I am always looking for ideas for packable local foods and ideas for tranporting them.

What do you do to eat well on the go and keep your trash at a minimum?
