  1. i really don’t think these types of advice are good. each mother is in a unique environment with a unique child. there are NO general rules when dealing with children, you roll with it and you adapt as best you can. anyone with kids would agree with me, i hope. because if you do something to a child just from reading a book, that maybe that child is viewing as traumatic, its only going to plant seeds in childhood which will blossom in full during young adult-hood, etc. Just my two cents though.

  2. I agree that each parent is in a unique environment with a unique child. However, there are “best practices” for parenting which is what this site is all about. This is the “Science of Parenting” and we share the research relevant to the hot topics for parents.

  3. Jon, I hope you might say that “Don’t make them bleed” would be a general rule for children. These things do exist. When you’re parenting a new kid, which everyone is each time one appears, you’re basically starting with nothing but the obvious. The research at least informs you of what you can expect and what solutions work positively in a probabilistic sense.

    On another topic, what can be said for technology in the classroom? I see lots of benefits for older kids, but what about in preschool? Is there a difference between memory game and sequence physical cards that the kids don’t touch or the same games on a tablet device that everyone wants to use?
