Soften brown sugar

Add a piece of bread to the brown sugar jar to soften the sugar.

Softening hard brown sugar has been a hot topic at AnswerLine lately. If your brown sugar has hardened simply put a slice of bread or apple into the container. The sugar will soften as the moisture from the bread/apple migrates into the sugar. If you need it softened immediately, just put it into the microwave for 30 seconds. Remember, it will harden again as it cools but you can use the bread or apple method.
