Greetings to NW Iowa Dairymen

My first week as the Northwest Iowa Extension Dairy Specialist is under my belt and it has been a whirlwind. First below zero temperatures for many years kinda took my breath away.

After two weeks without our furniture, it came on Monday and my bride is much happier. Each evening I’m helping unpack boxes and attending to the “honey do” jobs she has lined up for me.

At the office, I can’t say thanks often enough to Beth Doran- she has been a great help and is making introductions. She had worked with the Start To Farm series and I attended the first program of the new year over at Dordt College. John Olthoff is the campus coordinator and made sure all the technology worked as it was supposed to.

The topic was communication in a farm business and Melissa O’Rourke did a great job of presenting the information and guiding attendees to think about how communication effects the dairies they work on.

The next program in the series will be on January 26 at Dordt College. Call the office at 712.737.4230 for more information or to register.
