Last week Senator Joni Ernst met with Northwest Iowa Dairyman Lee Maassen at the family dairy near Maurice. The Senator and her entourage toured the dairy and then sat down with the family to share ideas on what Washington can do to help area dairymen.
The walking tour included stops in the milking parlor, milk room and the free-stall barn before returning to the farm office to discuss and wide range of topics including the upcoming farm bill, employees and immigration plus what the federal government can do to help attract new dairy processors to the area.
