Deadline to enter is Tuesday, May 31
The 23rd annual Cream of the Crop Dairy show will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the Cuming County fairgrounds in west Point, Nebraska. The show is open to everyone, both youth and adults.
Breeds eligible are Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Holstein, Jersey, Milking shorthorn and crossbreds. Both grade and registered cattle may be exhibited. An animals must be at least 75 percent of that breed and have normal breed characteristics to show as that breed.
Animals must be in good health. Animals that have visible warts, active ringworm or other signs of health problems will be asked to leave the fairgrounds. While official health certificates are not required, animals coming from outside the state of Nebraska will need the required official health certificate to enter Nebraska.
There will be a showmanship contest at the show with four divisions: Senior, Intermediate, Junior and Pee-wee. Every kid who participates in showmanship will receive a $5 certificate to use at sales during the show.
There will also be a judging contest held following showmanship. Prizes will be awarded to the individuals in Junior division (up to 12 on Jan.1) and Senior division (13 to 18 on Jan 1). There will also be an Adult division. Each adult will put $1 in the pot and the winners gets the pot! We will have three classes with questions on the last class. Sign-up for the judging contest must be completed by 11 am on the morning of the show.
There is no entry fee but pre-entry is required by Tuesday, May 31. Late entries will be accepted until 9 am the morning of the show with a $10 per head late-entry fee.
Several sales happen during the show. Donated items, left-over prizes from past years, a silent auction plus there will be some show calves for sale by silent auction.
The official judge will be Kaleb Kruse from Dyersville, IA, Kaleb judged the national junior Ayrshire at the North American International Livestock Exposition last fall.
