Farm Prices Trending Down

According to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service – Agricultural Prices report all hay prices in Iowa averaged $150.00 per ton in June. This was $22.00 below the May price and $2.00 below the June 2021 price.

The June 2022 alfalfa hay price, at $157.00, was $24.00 below the previous month and $9.00 below June 2021.
The average price received for other hay during June was $130.00 per ton. This was $24.00 below the May price but $21.00
above June last year.

The average price for milk was $25.90 per cwt, $1.10 below the May price but $8.00 above June 2021. Prices received for
milk cows for dairy herd replacement averaged $1,750 per head as of July 1, 2022.
