Intro to Planning and Zoning Workshops reminder….again

Have I reminded you about the Planning and Zoning workshops lately?  You can go to the “Intro to Planning and Zoning Workshops” tab above to find details about where and when, and to download a registration brochure.

This won’t be the last time, I assure you.

Intro to Planning and Zoning workshop reminder

Because the registration brochures for the Spring Introduction to Planning and Zoning Workshops were mailed a little earlier than I like, I feel the urge to give you frequent reminders between now and March that registration is now open.  Consider yourselves reminded.  You can go to the “Intro to Planning and Zoning Workshops” tab above to find details about where and when, and to download a registration brochure.

This won’t be the last time I remind you.

Workshop registration brochures have been mailed

Apparently the registration brochures for the Spring Introduction to Planning and Zoning Workshops were mailed over the Christmas holidays in order to beat some change in postal regulations.  A little earlier than I like, but never fear: if yours was lost in the pile of holiday mail you can download a copy from the ‘Intro to Planning and Zoning Workshops’ page linked above.

Registration brochure now available for Introduction to Planning and Zoning Workshops

The registration brochure for the 2013 Introduction to Planning and Zoning Workshops is now available, by going to the “Introduction to Planning and Zoning Workshops” page above and scrolling down to the link.  Hard copies will be mailed to all cities, counties, and councils of government later in January.

Announcing Spring 2013 Intro to Planning and Zoning workshops

It is once again time for ISU Extension and Outreach Introduction to Planning and Zoning workshops.  It is a three-hour workshop designed to introduce the basic principles of land use planning and development management to elected officials, planning and zoning officials, and board of adjustment members without formal training in the subjects.  Using case scenarios in a highly-interactive format, the workshop highlights issues frequently faced in the land use process.  The workshop is offered annually in eight locations across the state.  Locations change from year-to-year so that city and county officials are able to attend a location near them at least once every two years.  The dates and locations for Spring 2013 are:

March 25 – Council Bluffs, Hilton Garden Inn
March 27 – Fort Dodge, Best Western Starlight Village
April 1 – Davenport, River Music Experience Performance Hall
April 2 – Fairfield, Fairfield Arts and Convention Center
April 3 – Waterloo, Waterloo Center for the Arts
April 8 – Dubuque, Grand River Center
April 9 – Johnston, Hilton Garden Inn

Registration brochures will be in the mail in late January.  You will also be able to download a registration form from the Intro to Planning and Zoning Workshops page (link to that page is above) at around the same time.

All workshops begin with registration and a light supper at 5:30 p.m.  The program begins at 6:00 p.m. and concludes by 8:45 p.m. The registration fee is $55 per individual.  This fee is reduced to $45 per individual if a city or county registers 5 or more officials to attend.  The fee covers the workshop instruction, workshop materials, and supper.

2012 Workshops are a wrap

Thank you to the 248 registrants that attended this year’s Introduction to Planning and Zoning Workshops.  As always, good conversation, good questions, and good food.  Watch this blog for the announcement of next spring’s workshops, coming in December.

After a workshop-related hiatus we now return to our regularly-scheduled blogging.

Still time to sign up for the final four (workshops, that is)

We are still accepting registrations for the Planning and Zoning workshops in Dubuque (April 5), Waterloo (April 6), Council Bluffs (April 12) and Spencer (April 13).  You are too late to get a meal with your registrations for Dubuque and Waterloo, but we can still feed you if you sign up for Council Bluffs or Spencer by the end of this week (April 1).  Go to the Intro to Planning and Zoning Workshops tab above to download the registration form.
